Whitianga & Mercury Bay

There is so much to do in this beautiful region. There are many day trips to explore. Take the highway through Whitianga and head to Wharekaho Beach, meander onto spectacular Kuoatunu Beach, stopping at the famous “Lukes Kitchen Cafe” for a spot of lunch. You can either head over the Blackjack road to our favourite beach “Otama”, or even further to Opito Bay. If you want to head further, return to the coastal highway and head north to Matarangi beach and on to Whangapoua beach. Here you can discover one of the most unspoilt pristine beaches in the world, “New Chums” beach. Check the tides as there is a short walk over the hill to get to this little bit of paradise. You can follow the highway to Coromandel town. Enjoy the stunning vistas, coastline and native flora and fauna. From here you can return to Whitianga via the 309 road, enjoying some little walks, waterfalls and kauri groves and 309 honey along the way!
